DoubleTree Metropolitan Hotel,
New York City: Unveiled in 1961
in front of a crowd that
included Judy Garland and Noël
Coward, then called The Summit –
the hotel was the talk of the
town for its ideal midtown
location and mid-century modern
look. In 2005 the hotel
completed a $35 million
renovation and a facelift on
